Once you add content, you can promote it through social media, your website, emails, and landing pages.
Add Images to the Image Library
Good images are more attractive and engaging to prospects. This includes images to use as buttons, social media icons, campaign creatives, banner headers, or assets to embed in your emails, forms and landing pages.
- Gather all images you want to use into a single folder
- Save that folder into a .zip file (optional - you can also upload images individually)
- Go to Content > Image Library
- Hover over the blue plus sign on the right side of the screen, then click the Upload Images icon
- Upload the .zip file with your images
If you do not have images, you can get content with stock images, such as email templates, from the Content Catalog.
Allowed Image File Types

Add Files to the Media Library
File downloads are a great way to provide value to your prospects. You can also track who downloads your content. This is most commonly done with PDFs, but other file formats will work as well.
- Gather all files you want to upload into a single folder on your computer
- Save that folder into a .zip file (optional - you can also upload files individually)
- Go to Content > Media Library and click the Actions button
- Choose Upload Media Files
- Upload the .zip file containing your media files
Note: By default, Act-On will unzip a .zip file and add all contained files to your library. If you would like a file to stay in .zip format, add the .zip file to a folder and then save that folder as .zip before uploading it.
Allowed Media File Types
.ai | .html | .pps | .txt |
.css | .htm | .pptx | .vcs |
.csv | .ics | .ppsx | .xls |
.doc | .js | .ps | .xlsx |
.docx | .rtf | .zip | |
.eps | .ppt | .swf |
Add Links to External Media Files
In addition to storing files inside your Act-On account, you can also add links to files that are hosted elsewhere. You'll be able to track clicks/views like any of your Act-On content. This is especially useful for video files – they can't be uploaded to Act-On directly, but they can be hosted on a platform such as YouTube or Vimeo and then added to Act-On as links.
To add a media link:
- Go to Content > Media Library and click the Actions button
- Choose Add Media Link
- Add the full URL for the public file
- Add a name for your internal reference and choose a folder within your Media Library
- Click Submit
Using Your Media Files
There are image/media file pickers in many of Act-On's text editors where you can quickly choose a file to embed in a message or page. You can also get the URL for any file to use anywhere you'd like:
- From your Image Library or Media Library, click the dropdown beside a file and select Public Content URL
- Copy that URL and use it to link to the file from any location, such as your corporate website

In a confirmation mail with downloadable content, when do you use a Public Content URL and when do you use the 'Insert Link to file in Act-On media library'. When using the Public Content URL I don't get the following data in the textr message, why is that, and is it necessary to have?:{{Env.MsgId}}{{Env.SrcId}}{{Env.RecId}}/
