There are several ways to further categorize your contacts on the All Contacts page, as explained in the sections below.
Ways to Create a Segment
New Segment
Create a new segment that will pull from all of your All Contacts database.
- Go to Audience Center > All Contacts.
- At the top of the screen, click New Segment.
- In Manage Segment, define the segment criteria and click Save.
Create Subsegment
This will make a segment that is limited to contacts that are already contained in the parent segment:
- Hover over any existing segment in All Contacts.
- Click More.
- Select Create subsegment.
- Define the segment criteria and click Save.
The subsegment's default location will be in the same folder or subfolder that its parent segment is in.
Create a Segment when you Import Contacts
When you import a CSV or Marketing List to All Contacts, you can create a direct-select segment that includes all contacts at the same time.

Duplicate a Segment
To make a copy of an existing segment:
- Hover over any existing segment in All Contacts.
- Click More.
- Select Duplicate from the drop-down menu.
- In Save as, enter a name for your duplicate segment.
- Select a Location.
- All Segments is the default location, but you can also move it into any of your folders
- Click + add tag to add a tag to your duplicate.
- Click Duplicate.
- Edit your duplicate's segment criteria if needed.
