    Hi @david fowler

With just 50 working days until GDPR takes effect, we now urgently need you to tell us how the software will handle the 'right to be forgotten'. It is impossible for customers to put in place GDPR-compliant processes without knowing this. As things stand, Act-On is a potential compliance liability for customers, as there is no way for us to process an indivdual's right to data erasure.

Hi @Sion Stedman - Have you received any information about this from @david fowler or Act-On? In the GDPR guide page 9 gives directions on how to clear records for consent withdrawals. Is this the same thing?

similar topic: curious about where your clients will access the Consent Withdrawal form? In my opinion, having it at the top section of Subscription Management settings, as suggested on page 8, is a really poor idea since it displays before the other options to update settings or opt out of comms. By it being first I feel like I'm recommending that they withdrawal rather than just update their settings. How are you handling this?

    Hi @Erin Jewell

    • In the GDPR webinar on 16 April, some further information was given about how Act-On will handle the 'right to be forgotten' (please see the slides there for details). What I was referring to was the ability to erase from Act-On all tracking data and personally identifiable information about an individual, where they make such a request. The Consent Management Guide sets out how to remove people from a contact list so that they are no longer sent marketing email as such; I was actually interested in how Act-On would handle the deeper data cleanse, where individuals make such a request.
    • I agree with your point about where to place the opt-out link. The most transparent thing to do would be to put it front and centre, and so this is what the Consent Management Guide advises. But it's not necessary to put it front and centre. The important thing is that the person has the ability to opt out. So at my company, we make clear what the person will be doing by opting out (that is, they will no longer enjoy the benefits of receiving our communications) but place the link after the area where they can set their preferences. We are not using Subscription Management but have instead built our own preference management process in Act-On. If you are interested, you can read about that in the thread here.

    Hi Sion

I've watched this webinar; do you know what the 'new update will be available that makes it simple of enter the individuals' email address? Is this the mythical global search, do you think?

    Hi Vicky

I believe that point was about making the 'right to be forgotten' process as easy as possible for customers, rather than the general contact search. But, as you know, improving the contact search is something that has been raised in the thread here.

Oh yes, I got that - I was just wondering whether as part of their easy 2-step process to remove customers who have requested that option whether or not Act-on were reinstating global search.

Thanks you @Sion Stedman. I truly appreciate your reply and knowledge.
I didn't even think about the option to create a separate subscription management page. I will certainly look at this for our company as well.
