    Hi @Daniel Schmieding,

You are absolutely on the right track!

First, a little disclaimer - this is not technically a native feature, but there is a bit of a workaround that will accomplish what you are looking for.

The trick (as you guessed) is to use an Automated Program with a Change Field step that is 'set value to' and then using personalization.

I would recommend that you create a segment from your Form submission list that is 'Industry' is empty.

Then, use this segment as the source list for your AP, so that you aren't overwriting values in that column.

Finally, just push that segment through the Change Field value step and you should be set!

Please, as always, run a small test to ensure that you have everything configured correctly, so you don't have to try to undo a mass change.

Have a great day and Happy Marketing!

    Hi all,

Hoping there's a solution I'm overlooking here, but so far no luck dancing around with list maintenance / auto programs, etc.

I have a list populated by a form. 'Other' is a selectable value for our 'Industry' field on a drop-down menu - if selected, another input field appears asking for clarification - this maps to the field 'Other Industry.'

For personalization purposes, I would love to find a way to map 'Other Industry' to 'Industry,' assuming Industry field is blank.

Within form / field mapping settings, it will not allow an instance of a 'duplicate field.'

Within list maintenance and automated programs, the 'Change Field / Column Value' function doesn't quite seem versatile enough, unless I'm able to use some personalization tag (like {{Other Industry}}?) within the 'Set Value To' option.

    Any other ideas out there?

    Thank you guys in advance,

    Robert,

Thank you for the prompt reply - I've attempted this, but can't seem to get it to merge - keep just getting exactly what I input. Have tried: {{columnName}} along with {{=columnName}} - what am I missing here?

    @Daniel Schmieding

I lament my prompt reply, as I have posted inaccurate information and I apologize for that.

My testing originally involved an email send at the end of this, which is where this all comes together and works.

In lists, the Personalization is NOT recognized as anything but text, so it does not pull in the information as I stated above.

What DOES work is nested personalization:

    Example -

As your tests have shown, the Name column is still showing the personalization, not the value of the First Name field.

However, if you were to send an email to this list and use {{Name}}, it would reference that field and then pull in the value for First Name.

Unfortunately, this is not what you were asking for and I apologize for misspeaking.

I have discussed this functionality internally and have added it to our feature request list - I hope that it does get added in the future.

Have a great day and Happy Marketing!

Has this been submitted as a feature request - we have run into the same issue - needing to copy the value of one field into another field.

    Thanks.
