Dynamically changing content in automated scripts

Paul McDevitt

Seeing some interesting ideas on how to get more out of Act-On, so thought I would reach out on something I am struggling with.

Ideally i want to set it and forget it (I know, sounds like that rotisserie BBQ commercial.) We are a B2B company and we resell products from different vendors. Say 4 major categories with as many as 3 or 4 products in each category.

The challenge is that when creating an automation it becomes fixed. I can't adapt it quickly or easily without stopping, editing, restarting because I need to change the content, as tech moves so fast the content needs to constantly change. And because I may have to do that for several automated scripts, it could become a bit of a headache.

So how are others managing in the fast changing content world when it comes to their automated scripts?

Cheers
Paul

    Thanks for getting back Sean,

To your question, I was thinking more in terms of extending the current automation so guessing that would fit in your daisy-chaining suggestion.

    Hi Paul,

The answer depends on how you want this program to function and the variables you need to change when running. Sometimes you can simply change the content and clear history, sometimes you can daisy chain the program indefinitely and continue to add new content.

What is your workflow as it stands now and I might be able to advise you on how you can automate this more efficiently.

    Best Regards,
