How do I send submitted form data in a confirmation email?
0 Votes
Hello,
We have a class registration form on our website where people can pick from a drop-down list of classes they want to take. I would like to send a confirmation email to the form submitter that contains the information they provided in the form (similar to the alerts emails). Is there a way to do this? I'm digging around the documentation and Act-On, but I'm not getting anywhere.
Thank you!

Any data submitted in the form is recorded in the form submission list. When you configure the response email, it can reference this submitted data via personalization.
For example, if my form has the field name “First Name” I can use {{First Name}} in my response email to pull the submitted data into the email as a personalized value.
This applies to all fields and data submitted.
Hope it Helps,

Sure there is! Just create an autoresonse email and add personalization fields. Since the email is sent after they submit Act_On ' knows' the data. Something like thisYour age: {{age}}, where the text inside the bracket is your field name. When choosing the personalization fields switch to List specific fields and you can choose from any field in that form's list.Hope that helps.Continue on with all the fields you want to report back to them.

Also worth noting that when you enter a personalisation field like the others have mentioned above, if you are not always certain that the field will be filled in (ie not blank) then you need to tell Act-On what the value would be if it isn't blank or you just get an error and your email doesn't get sent.
Let's say your email is something along the lines of 'thank you for subscribing, here's what you subscribed to'
You might enter a personalisation field such as {{Email Category}} but if the field value is blank (ie the person did not pick a value for that field) the email will throw an error and it won't send. Therefore we need to add a value for when it is blank. This looks like: {{={{Email Category}}|Not Entered}}. That way, if they leave the field blank, we can just show them that we don't have a value for that field.
I attach an example from the same email we made.
