You can use the replacement fields in the subject line the same way as in the body, but you'll have to type it out yourself.
So for example, if your column with first names is named FirstName, then:
Greetings {{={{FirstName}}|friend}}, here is something interesting for you.
Will show as:
You can do the same with state data, for example
This is a message for everyone in {{={{State}}|USA}}.
The thing to keep in mind is to make sure you have a fallback text, for when the information is missing. And the text you want to put in the subject needs to be in a field in the list you're sending to.
You can also add more text within the
{{= | }}
brackets. For example:Here is some info{{= just for you, {{FirstName}}.|, because we care about it.}}
Will show:
I hope this was helpful.

Subject: Personalize subject line with variable data
Is Act-On able to have variable data in a subject line. We want to send out something that is state specific and have the subject line mention the state. We know how to do this with a name in the body and we have added the right sales person but we have never made the subject line include a variable.
