University updates – please share your feedback!

Hi everyone,

I am working on some updates to the Act-On University – one goal is to redesign the knowledge base home page for fast, intuitive access to information.

2 basic mock-ups are attached beneath this post. I would love your feedback on which would work better for you!

Option 1
In this version, you can choose between article types: Do you want to know how a feature works, how to complete a certain task, or how to fix something that's broken? Key benefit: articles will be specifically tuned to the purpose you selected.

Option 2
In this version, you can choose a product feature and see all the content about it. Key benefit: you can browse through more information at once.

Please check out the mock-ups and reply with your opinions! Both versions would include search and some additional ways to navigate. In parallel with the new homepage, I am updating articles and making other changes behind the scenes – I will share more information soon.

    Great that this is getting some dedicated care and attention.

    Option 2 together with solid search functionality would be my preference.

    (Option 1 would seem to recreate some of the redundancy/duplication issues of the current University structure – after all, how much difference is there between learning how a feature works and how to complete a particular task? How can you anticipate every single thing that might be 'broken' and how to 'fix' it? etc.)

    As I still feel fairly new to the system, I like the 'wizard' aspect of the first layout. But I expect in time as become more comfortable and knowledgable of the terms of what is available in Act-on, the second layout will get me where I want to go faster. So, I am leaning toward layout 2.

    I'm for number 2 as well. It provides the option to do a custom search and at the same time a way to narrow down the topics to key functional areas. New folks don't necessarily know enough about the product and terminology to find what they need. This option meets the needs of the novice and more experienced users.

    Thank you all for responding! It's extremely helpful to hear from you, so I will make sure to post future questions here as well.

    If anyone has further suggestions on this, feel free to chime in – but since Option #2 is the clear winner I will move forward with that layout.​

    Option 2.

    Option 1, is handy for beginners. But if you are looking for something specific thean option 2 is much better. With the current setup it's difficult to find stuff.
