Using custom preference center/ analytics impact
Good morning!
We are building a custom preference center that we are going to sync through an API to SAP, the API will allow SAP to be the record keeper and will update act on when people select their preferences from an external page.
My question is: will Act-on now lose all capability to know when someone opt's out from an email? I use the data studio and report exports quite often and I am concerned that with our own opt-out link, these opt outs will no longer be tracked, instead it'll just look like a link click, which may impact our analytics.
Any ideas?

Hi Gina,
It's hard to be super specific here without knowing the details of your custom integration, but generally speaking you're right that you won't have access to Act-On's standard opt-out reporting if you aren't using the system's native opt-out feature.
Since you've got a custom opt-out, your reporting will likely need to be custom too - but you should still have some good options! One idea: If your SAP opt-out links have a certain part of the URL that distinguishes them from other links, you can create a report in Data Studio for link clicks that contain that particular portion (below, 'unique-opt-out-path' is just an example).
Thanks!

This Chris,
This is very helpful. I will have to do some creative reporting on this, but I think this will be a partial solution, especially if I can filter by messages - the only concern I have is that the link only takes them to the subscription management page - where they may or MAY NOT opt out. If they decide to opt-out in our native subscription page, then they are run through a list maintenance & automated program to throw them into the opt out list. Which doesn't tell me what email they came from, just that they were synced with the opt-out list.
