NEW FEATURE: Transactional Event Triggered Email
Pinned FeaturedAct-On Has Expanded Its Ability to Serve Customers’ Email Needs
We’re excited to announce the availability of Act-On’s Transactional Event-Triggered Email as a new API solution for our customers. Available to all customers and prospects, transactional event-triggered emailing opens up opportunities to better engage with your customers, especially when in-the-moment, business-critical updates are needed.
Transactional Event-Triggered Email
First, a quick refresher on what transactional emails are and do. Unlike commercial emails, transactional emails are explicitly not promotional, yet convey business-critical information to customers. As a separate email type with well-defined usage protocols, transactional emails are not restricted by opt-out and most anti-spam filters, but must comply with regulations and usage expectations.
Transactional emails are ideal for customer notifications and alerts such as: down times, software outages, updates, and legal changes. Yet, in some cases, alerts need to reach people in the moment to enable a password update, to acknowledge a registration or a purchase, to confirm a change in an account, or to alert customers of an unexpected delay in services, or suspected fraudulent activity in a bank account. This is where Act-On’s transactional event-triggered email comes in. Based on individual actions, our event-triggered messaging allows customers to send 1:1, on-brand, time-sensitive and automated messages when immediate alerts are ideal.
What’s New?
Today, Act-On offers both list-based transactional emailing and 1:1 triggered emailing based on the individual actions taken by or situations that impact customers on a personal basis. Critically, Act-On’s transactional emailing solution is integrated into our full marketing automation solution. This means that customers can centralize all of their email activities - both promotional and transactional - in Act-On, to ensure consistent customer brand and communications experiences. Plus, engagement can be tracked, lists can be consolidated, and all email-related customer behaviors can be scored in a single system.
We know that some of our customers use other email vendors to provide transactional emailing services today, which can create challenges in management, messaging and branding consistency, and spend. Now, these customers can place all of their emailing needs under one roof, reduce redundant costs, unify all customer communications, and more easily manage all commercial and transactional emailing needs on the Act-On growth marketing platform.
Use Cases for Transactional Event-Triggered Email
Whether triggered from point-of-sale software in a physical store, registration software at an event or hotel, or a supply chain tracking tool, APIs in those solutions can trigger Act-On to automatically send an event-triggered message to the customer. Examples include:
- Password resets: People misplace or forget passwords all the time. It’s a fact of life. Our transactional event-triggered email solution enables customers to send password update responses quickly, easily, and securely — ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Status updates: There’s a range of needs for status updates for customers, depending on the business and offerings. For example, a financial institution may need to send fraud alerts quickly and securely. With integrated transactional event-triggered emailing, marketing or services teams can ensure that customer alerts are customized, on-brand, and recognized as coming from their vendor or bank.
- Purchase confirmations. Whether or not a customer has opted out of their favorite retailer’s commercial messaging, receipts for purchases at their online or brick-and-mortar stores can still be sent to those customers to confirm purchases and enable simpler returns, record-keeping, and improved customer experiences.
Availability & Pricing
Act-On understands that while there are multiple applications for transactional emailing and event-triggered emailing, there will be some customers that use it sparingly, and others that will be high volume users. Accordingly, we are offering two tiers of transactional emailing services as an add-on package for all customers.
- Tier One: $5,000 / year
Includes transactional emailing (up to 4000 transactional emails sent per month), including transactional event-triggered emailing
- Tier Two: $10,000 / year
Includes transactional emailing, transactional event-triggered emailing, and a dedicated IP address for all email delivery (more than 4000 transactional emails sent per month)
The dedicated IP enables customers to send all of their emails from a single-sender IP address, which allows them to best manage their email sending reputation, deliverability, and reception
Note that in both cases, contacts engaged through transactional emailing are considered active contacts and may therefore affect your pricing. Also, customers must agree to terms that regulate transactional emailing as non-commercial in nature.
