Known Issue: Act-On Anywhere Chrome extension does not detect email recipient for a new message in Gmail Completed

Lauren Mulkern

Description:

Some users of Act-On Anywhere for Chrome are reporting an issue when using Gmail. When the user clicks on Act-On Anywhere from a new message, the recipient of the message is not detected. This causes an alert to appear incorrectly and prevents the use of Act-On Anywhere features when sending an email message from Gmail.

Next Steps:

Act-On Engineering is aware of the issue and working to identify the root cause.

To stay updated, follow this post. We will comment with additional updates as we have more information on the issue.

    UPDATE - FIXED

We have released version 2.72 of Act-On Anywhere for Chrome that resolves this issue. Your browser should automatically update to the latest version.

If you are still having issues, go to chrome://extensions/ in your browser, find Act-On Anywhere, and click Details to confirm you are on the latest version, 2.72.

If you are not using the latest version, click Remove to uninstall Act-On Anywhere, and visit Act-On Anywhere in the Chrome web store to reinstall.

Hi, just checking on the timeline for this.  It is greatly impacting our sales teams' workflow.  I was hoping this was part of the weekend updates that were performed but haven't heard if that was the case.

Hi, I completely agree. Our team really depends on this functionality and has had this problem for 3 weeks now. Can you provide any updates and a possible timeline for this resolution?

Hi Meteena and Pam, thanks for checking in and for letting us know this is a large impact on your teams.

To update our community: Our software engineers are still investigating the root cause of the issue. We do not have a timeline to release at this time.

    UPDATE

Our software engineers are still investigating. The issue was introduced by changes in the To, Bcc, and CC fields in Gmail. This has been released to some Gmail business accounts, however, Google has paused the rollout of this update. For more information on this change, you can view Google's announcement here: Google Workspage Updates: Visual updates and improvements for the To, Cc, and Bcc fields in Gmail.

Because the rollout has been paused, Act-On has not been able to access the new version and replicate the issue. We do not have a timeline to release at this time.

We will keep this post updated as the investigation progresses, and we deeply appreciate your continued patience.
