How to Find out How Many Contact Records Total in Account?

Can anyone tell me how to find out how many total contact records are in an Act-On account? We want to know the total but exclude duplicates on multiple lists. 

Apparently Act-On support is saying this isn't possible, and we have to do excel magic. 

Every other email marketing software I have used MaileLite, GetResponse, Aweber, etc. would show the total number of email contacts in my account.

    At this time we do not have a dedicated feature to display the total number of contact records in an account. Support is correct that you could certainly use Data Studio to export your contacts and apply your deduplication logic to arrive at your total number of unique contacts. I'm curious how you are planning on using this number once you reach it. As our pricing model allows customers to pay for only the contacts they have messaged in the past month, the total number of contacts isn't often heard a pressing need to to surface. Furthermore, can you describe your deduplication methodology? Would it be a simple matched email or a combination of data points?

    I am happy to say that we are currently in the early phases of development of a new architecture for the storage of contact records and early designs do include this metric. If this initiative is of interest to you, please send me a message and we can set up some time to discuss it in more detail.

    Did you ever get an answer from Max on this issue?

    @Max, I want to use your NeverBounce partnership to clean all of the contacts in my database (this has never been done), and want to know how much to budget for the list cleaning.

    That's one example of why people might want this information.

    Additionally, knowing what percentage of my total base I'm communicating with on a month-to-month basis is a valuable statistic.

    Also, understanding how my various marketing lists relate to the overall size of my database would be valuable.

    Hi Sam,

    Sorry for the delay here. As Max mentioned, we're currently working on revamping our list structure to make this a lot easier. This has been a long process but we're getting closer!

    Today, the bottom line is that you would need to export your various lists and compare them, which requires either manual effort, Data Studio (which is a paid add-on), or the Act-On API (which would take some developer involvement). Sorry that this is a pain today, but we will be posting more info as we continue making progress with the new list structure project.
