10 things B2B marketers need to know about the GDPR and data protection
The DMA receives many queries from the B2B marketing community around GDPR. Many are concerned that commentary around GDPR focuses on B2C marketing. Under the current rules B2B marketers are subject to fewer regulatory requirements than B2C marketers. This is because Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) focuses on protections for consumers.

Thanks for sharing the article. What interests me is the part about 'legitimate interest'. What i read in the article and 10 things B2B marketers need to know about the GDPR and data protection is that marketeers can use this legal ground for processing personal data.

Direct marketing i understand. Being a client also. Other examples are risk assessment, checking children's age, processing data to afford individuals rights. But in the article from econsultancy the also gives interesting other  examples.

The article you mention is confusing because it gives your the feeling the you as a marketeer can use legitimate interest. It is true but the cases a rare and you have to have a sloid case why you should not have to ask for consent: a legitimate interest 'must be real and not too vague'.

What is your feeling about the legitimate interest and the use of marketing automation?
