How to delete a form submission

Tammy Spencer
I'm a new user to Act On and previously we used Formstack to collect data, and through that platform we could edit the list of submissions as needed. However, in Act On I'm not seeing a way to delete a form submission; and specifically I'm trying to delete some test submissions.

Since I'm capping submissions for a training class it becomes especially important to delete the test submissions because these will skew the number of submissions I'm allowing for the class.

Any help or insight regarding how to manage this would be appreciated!

Thanks!

    Hi Scott,
I also have this problem, however I don't want to completely remove the contact from the database entirely, just from that specific list. Is there a way to do that?

    Hi Tammy,

    Firstly, welcome to Act-On!

I've recorded a short clip for you that demonstrates how you can delete a form entry from the underlying list. I hope this helps you tidy up your list and remove those test submissions.

I responded to this a couple of days ago but for some reason it isn't showing up.
To Gina's question, when you click on the list, then click on the person you want to remove, there is a trash can at the top. It's scary because you think you are DELETING them, but you are actually just REMOVING them from this particular list.
To Tammy: deleting (removing) the person from the submission list has no effect on the form submission limit you set in the form properties. (It doesn't go down.) If you don't have any 'real' submissions, only tests, you can go to the form, hover over the name, then CLICK on the 3 dots for more options. Click CLEAR FORM REPORT. If you already have good submissions you don't want to clear out, then increase your limit by the number of tests you submitted. For example, if the limit is 20 and you have 3 tests, increase the limit to 23 to allow for 20 good submissions.
You could also consider adding a wait list and once the limit is reached, direct them to the landing page for that wait list form. Then you don't lose the interested party and can handle it if more space becomes available (such as by getting cancellations.) If you are interested in more info on that, reply with your questions.

    Hi Chris,
It says 'delete contact' when you click on the trash can, and the contact log also contains all of the information about that contact. Is there someone from Act-On that can verify what you're saying?

    Hi Gina,

Deleting the person from the list will not completely remove their data from Act-on. You can go to Content > Forms > Select the drop down next to the form > View Form Report. The submitted data will still be in this form report. If the list contains additional data that was not captured from the form submit it will be removed from Act-on if you delete the record from the list.

Also, deleting the record from a list will not delete their behavior. Behavior is tracked by the email address. So if you were to add a record to a new list using the same email address their timeline in the contact report will still have their behavior.

If you do need to completely remove a record from Act-on you can use the erase contact tool under Settings > Other Settings > Erase Contact. This will permanently remove the records behavior.
