Loyalty Program

I'm looking for thoughts, ideas and recommendations for setting up a "fan club", "champion board", or "loyalty program" for my company. The program would award points for following, liking, sharing, commenting, providing reviews, giving an opinion, providing a testimonial, partnering on a white paper, recommending, serving as a demo site or beta site, or providing input on product design. In return for attaining various point levels, participants would be awarded prizes or other benefits. Participants would be both customers/users and non-customers/non-users. Are there best practices for setting up such a program, and does Act-On offer any tools that would help?
