AP sourcing from 'recently added' segment

Exago Inc
Once a contact enters an automated program, does it always continue through the AP (providing its not an early exit)?

E.g.:
A segment uses the 'record creation date' query to segment contacts created within the last 2 days.
An AP sources from this segment and runs for 10 days (AP adds contacts daily).
As a new contact to the segment is added, it is automatically entered into the AP.
After more than 2 days, this contact will no longer be on that segment.

Will the contact continue the AP for its duration (10 days) even if its not a part of the original segment by day 3?

Hello! Yes - once a contact starts in a program, they will continue through every step (except, as you mentioned, if they meet some early exit criteria).

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

We have a few Automated Programs set up and some of the contacts were suppressed during one of the steps due to our email fatigue rules. Will they move onto the next step or will the AP attempt to resend to these contacts? So far it appears they ended up stuck at the step that they were suppressed at.

    Thanks for any insight.

    Hi Michelle,

The AP should move your suppressed contacts to the next step just the same as your contacts that received the message. The only exception would be if the following steps include conditional logic for contacts being sent that same message, of course!

If the contacts are still at the Wait step before/after the message for whatever reason, you can always click Move contacts to next step, but if they are stuck at the message sending step I'd suggest contacting Support to resolve that.

    Best,
    Chris
