Rule to categorize lead source?

Linh Nguyen

Does anyone know that if Act-On has a rule/script to categorize lead source ? For example,  paid search category, utm_source OR utm_medium OR utm_campaign OR source contains the word 'adword', 'ppc', or 'cpc'

Thank you!

You can easily capture URL parameters using hidden fields in a form.

You can set up a separate hidden field for each URL parameter you want to record. We have them set up for Ad-Words GCLIDs, Bing MSCLKIDs, as well as Google Analytics campaign parameters.

The caveat is that the visitor has to fill out the form on the initial landing page unless you:
    1. maintain URL parameters in the URL as the visitor goes from page to page so they are there when the visitor completes a form fill; or
    2. use javascript to record the URL parameters in a cookie and use javascript to populate the cookie data into a form

It would be nice if Act-On tracked the URL parameters when the session started and automatically populated them into a form where appropriate. Or better yet, just automatically add them as default parameters in a form.

    Thanks Tod!

We've been using a hidden field and a custom java script from Act-On to capture lead sources, attached. However, they didn't work as expected, the Source field was empty most of the time. I believe the URL parameters in the URL did not maintain as the visitor goes from page to page. Do you know what could be the reasons by chance?

By the way, we're using Labs forms.
