Need help with testing automated email program

John Donald
Any suggestions for running an automated email program through a test without having to wait for wait steps? Is there a 'test mode' I am not seeing? Tips? Tricks? Best practices? Thanks!

    Hey John,

There's no 'test mode' that I know of (would be an extremely useful feature). What you can do is go to the steps tab from the program dashboard, expand one of the wait steps, and there you should see an option to move contacts manually to the next step.

That's how I tested my programs at least.

I do use Wait steps, just 10 minutes at a time. It gives me time to see where things are moving and make corrections on the fly. The obvious problem is going back and adding the correct times, but it works ok for me.

Thought I would jump in here. What I do to test a new program is COPY it, change the wait times to 10 minutes and run it. Of course you have to get yourself or some colleagues into the program so you might have to add a record to your source list or fudge some data - like the date of an event. It all goes according to plan, then you should be safe to start the full program and not worry about changing the wait times back. Just be careful if you make any changes to the test copy, that you also make them to the original program and I would then test it again.
