Take personalization to the next level with Dynamic Content in the Email Composer. This feature lets you control whether a Row appears in your email based on conditions you define - so each contact sees content that’s most relevant to them.
Dynamic Content works exclusively in the Email Composer. It’s ideal for targeted promotions, personalized recommendations, or showing alternate messages to different audience segments.
Quick Reference (Advanced Users) - Click to Expand
- Location: Under Row Properties → Dynamic Content.
- Conditions: Define when the Row is shown (based on field values, lead score, etc.).
- Grouping: Combine conditions using AND, OR, and grouped logic.
- Preview Mode: Toggle Preview dynamic content to test visibility.
- Test Email: Send test messages with different dynamic variations selected.
How to Use Dynamic Content
- In the Email Composer, select the Row you want to make dynamic. In the sidebar under Dynamic Content, click Edit conditions.
- In the Dynamic Content Builder, give your rule a name and (optional) description, then define the conditions that determine when the Row will appear.
For example, you might display a promotional Row only to recipients with a high Lead Score:
Defining Conditions
The Dynamic Content Builder allows flexible logic to tailor exactly who sees the Row:
- Use any or all conditions within a group.
- Create multiple groups where Group 1 OR Group 2 can be met.
- Duplicate or reorder conditions using and drag handles.
- Remove individual conditions or entire groups with a single click.
This structure makes it easy to target based on demographic data, engagement metrics, or field values such as Region, Industry, or Lead Score.
Preview & Test Dynamic Content
Once you’ve created your rules, use Preview Mode to confirm how your email will render for different audiences.
- In the top-right corner of the Email Composer, click Preview.
- In the Details tab, toggle Preview dynamic content on.
- Use the eye icon to show or hide content dynamically - this helps you visualize what each recipient will see.
Testing Your Dynamic Content
You can also test dynamic content when sending a test email. This lets you verify which version of the content each condition will display.
- In the top-right corner of the Email Composer, click Test email.
- In the Send Test Email dialog, choose the dynamic content version you’d like to preview.
Best Practices
- Use Dynamic Content for entire Rows - not individual blocks - to keep layouts consistent.
- Test every condition before sending; unexpected field values can prevent content from appearing.
- Keep conditions simple and descriptive; avoid long nested logic where possible.
- Always include a default (non-dynamic) version for recipients who don’t meet any conditions.
- Preview and send tests using real contact data whenever possible for validation.
