Registering Act-On Sales Users for MS Dynamics (Legacy Package)

  • Updated

This article walks through registering Act-On Sales users for the legacy Act-On package in MS Dynamics, so those users can see Act-On data - like Hot Prospects and marketing activity - directly inside MS Dynamics.

This is our legacy package. We are no longer recommending installation of this version. If you do not have the legacy version installed, do not proceed with the instructions in this article. Instead, see our guide here for more information on installing our newest version of Act-On for MS Dynamics.
Why this matters: Registering each sales user correctly is what gives them access to Act-On data inside MS Dynamics. If a user isn't registered, they won't see that information in the Act-On Tab.

Quick Reference (Advanced Users)

  • Legacy package only - confirm ActOnCRMPortal version 9.x or earlier is already installed before proceeding.
  • Connect via MSDynamicsTool.exe > Manage Connection > Dynamics.
  • Register users by checking their name(s), then right-click > Register.

Prerequisites

  • Your Sales user(s) added to your Act-On account
  • MS Dynamics System Administrator privileges
  • Act-On subdomain
    • The server which hosts your account (eg cixx.actonsoftware.com)
  • Microsoft Windows operating system
  • Act-On package tool for MS Dynamics

Confirm the Legacy Package is installed

Once connected, there will be a system log available to view where you can see the status of your Act-On package installation. It must be pre-installed to proceed.
