Create unique links in your emails for your recipients that use Personalization Fields. Common use cases for personalized URLs include:
- Sending a customer a package tracker
- Sharing a link to a digital gift card
- Linking to an account owner's profile

Before creating your personalized URLs, you'll need to have the following:

A marketing list or segment with a field that contains URL values

A redirect link for broken personalized URLs
- Set an account-wide redirect link for broken personalized links caused by list contacts without a URL value. To do this, go to Settings > Other Settings > Custom Account Settings > Account Redirects. Under Broken Personalized Link Redirect, enter the link you'd like to use for redirecting contacts that encounter a broken personalized URL, then click Save. You can edit this redirect link at any time by clicking Edit.

Instructions
Method One: Add to Text Link
In the Email Composer:
- Open the email or email template you want, or create a new one.
- In the Send Details tab, add your recipient lists or segments with URL values (explained above).
- In the Design tab, choose where you want your link. See insert/edit link (popup formatting option) for details. Jump to step 4 below.
For legacy emails:
- Open an existing draft or, in the Email Composer, select Blank Message.
- In the Address tab, add your recipient lists or segments with URL values (explained above).
- In the Design tab, edit Rich Text Block.
- If working with an existing draft, hover over Rich Text Block and click to edit.
- If working with a blank message, select Content from the sidebar, and drag and drop a Rich Text Block into the body of your email.
- Add link text and use the cursor to highlight, then press the Link button
- In the Insert/Edit Link window, find the URL section.
- Enter your URL field name, enclosed in double brackets (this signifies personalization and will insert the field value as a URL):
Personalizations must be an exact match to the field names on your recipient list or lists. If you are using a different field name, make sure that you type it exactly as it appears on your recipient list.
Method Two: Add a Button
In the Email Composer:
- Open the email or email template you want, or create a new one.
- In the Send Details tab, add your recipient lists or segments with URL values (explained above).
- In the Design tab, add a Button content block. See Buttons for details.
- Jump to step 5 below.
For legacy emails:
- Open an existing draft or, in the Email Composer, select Blank Message.
- In the Address tab, add your recipient lists or segments with URL values (explained above).
- Navigate to the Design tab & edit a Rich Text Block.
- If working with an existing draft, hover over Rich Text Block and click to edit.
- If working with a blank message, select Content from the sidebar, and drag and drop a Rich Text Block into the body of your email.
- Press the Bulletproof Button button
- In the URL section, enter your URL field name enclosed in double brackets (this signifies personalization and will insert the field value as a URL):
Next Steps
Review your email in the Preview tab by selecting a recipient in the Sample Preview dropdown and hovering over the link or bulletproof button you have just added. If your Personalized URL is working, you should see the URL at the bottom of your browser.
