A/B Split Segments let you divide a group of contacts into randomized subgroups. This is useful for testing subject lines, comparing offers, or staggering sends to avoid email server overload.
Quick Reference (Advanced Users) - Click to Expand
- Create up to 30 splits from a parent segment
- Choose even percentages or manual counts
- Automatically suppress non-deliverable contacts
- Splits are Direct Select and can be edited individually
- Use Regenerate to refresh splits after parent updates
Open the Segment You Want to Split
- Go to Audience Center > All Contacts.
- Find the segment you want to split (e.g. Engaged Web Leads).
- Click ⋯ More and select Generate A/B Split.
Configure Your Split
Choose how many groups you want and how contacts should be divided.
- Split Name: This label will be added to each new subsegment (e.g. “Split A,” “Split B”).

- Split Type: Choose % for even distribution or # for fixed counts.

Suppress Undeliverable Contacts
You can remove contacts who can't receive emails - useful for clean testing and accurate results.
- Select Suppress all non-deliverable contacts to exclude opt-outs, hard bounces, spam complaints, and missing emails.
- Optionally, suppress specific segments (e.g. Internal Test Contacts).
Regenerate Later (Optional)
Enable the Allow this split to be regenerated option if your parent segment will change and you want updated splits later.
- Click ⋯ More on the parent segment
