Validate Your Email Before Sending - Legacy Composer

  • Updated

The Legacy Email Composer includes its own validation process, located in the Review tab. Use this to ensure your message meets all requirements before sending or scheduling.

Quick Reference (Advanced Users) - Click to Expand
Try it like this: Open the Review tab, run Validate Message, fix missing sender details, add your company address to the footer, check your plain text version, then revalidate before sending.

Open the validation panel

  1. Open your message in the Legacy Email Composer.
  2. Click the Review tab.
  3. Select Validate Message on the left.

The validation area lists:

  • Sender details
  • Subject
  • Recipients
  • Content issues
  • Footer compliance (address + opt-out)
  • Deliverability warnings

Understanding the validation icons

Each validation result appears with one of the following statuses:

Error icon Error — must be fixed before sending.
Passed icon Passed — requirement is met.
Warning icon Warning — recommended but not required.

Sender details

The Legacy Composer requires a valid From Name and From Address. Open the Address tab to update these fields.

Common legacy sender issues

  • Personalized From unavailable - your list must contain Contact Owner Name and Contact Owner Email.
  • Invalid From Address - select a verified address from the dropdown.

Subject line

In the Legacy Composer, the subject line is set in the Address tab. Validation will flag missing or blank subject lines.

Recipients

The Legacy Composer validates that a list or segment is selected in the Address tab. Add or change lists under To and Suppress Against.

Content validation

Legacy messages may produce warnings for:

  • Broken or malformed links
  • Missing images
  • RSS blocks with no content
  • Dynamic content requiring a fallback
