Start Creating a Landing Page

  • Updated

Use this article to get a Landing Page started in Act-On. You’ll learn where to create Landing Pages, the fastest way to create a draft, and the main “start” options (scratch, template, duplicate, custom code, or legacy).

Quick Reference (Advanced Users) - Click to Expand
  1. Go to Content > Landing Pages and click + Create landing page.
  2. Choose Start from scratch and click Next.
  3. Enter a Landing page title, optionally set Location and add Tags, then click Create.
  4. Optional: Start from a template, duplicate an existing Landing Page, upload custom code, or use the legacy composer.
  5. Next steps: Use the Landing Page Composer Walkthrough for a guided example, or the Landing Page Composer User Guide as a full reference.
Try it like this: Create a draft Landing Page for an upcoming webinar, tag it with the campaign name, then hand the draft URL to a teammate for review before you start designing.

Where to create Landing Pages

Landing Pages are managed in one place:

Content > Landing Pages

This list is where you create new Landing Pages, search and filter existing pages, and duplicate pages you want to reuse.

Tip: If you manage many Landing Pages, use Location and Tags consistently so you can filter and find pages quickly later.

Create a new Landing Page

  1. Go to Content > Landing Pages.
  2. At the top right, click + Create landing page.

Create landing page button

  1. Choose Start from scratch and click Next.
  2. Enter a Landing page title. Optionally set the Location and add Tags. (Learn more about tags)
  3. Click Create.

Your Landing Page opens in the Landing Page Composer. You’ll see tabs on the left for Settings, Design, and Custom Code.

Other ways to start

In the + Create landing page flow, you can choose different ways to start based on your goal.

Start with a template

Use a template when you want a consistent layout you can reuse (for example, webinar registration pages with the same structure each time).

Select Start with a template, choose a saved template, then continue with the same title, location, and tag steps. For details, see Landing Page Templates.

Duplicate an existing Landing Page or template

Duplicate is the fastest option when you already have a Landing Page that is close to what you need. This is especially useful when you want a new version for a different date, audience, or offer.

  1. Go to Content > Landing Pages.
  2. Find the Landing Page you want (use the filters on the left, or search at the top right).
  3. Hover over the Landing Page, then select Duplicate from the menu on the right.

Duplicate landing page menu option

  1. In Save as, enter a new Landing Page title. Optionally set the Location and add Tags.
  2. Click Duplicate.

Tip: After duplicating, open Settings first and confirm the page status and public URL settings before you share it for review.

Start with custom code (upload or load from URL)

Use this option if you already have HTML/CSS you want to bring into Act-On, or if your team maintains landing page code outside the composer.

Under Additional options, upload your code or load code from a URL. For steps and supported formats, see Upload Code.

Use the legacy composer

If you need to work with older Landing Page functionality or maintain an existing legacy workflow, select Use the legacy composer.

For legacy instructions, see Landing Pages (Legacy Composer).

What to do next

Once your Landing Page is created, most teams follow this sequence:

  1. Confirm your basics in Settings (title, status, and URL settings).
  2. Build the layout and content in Design.
  3. Preview on desktop and mobile, then publish when ready.
