There are several ways to organize and refine your contacts in All Contacts. Whether you want to group similar audiences, narrow your focus, or prepare contacts for a specific workflow, the options below help you segment your data in the way that works best for your needs.

- New Segment: Starts from your entire All Contacts database.
- Create Subsegment: Starts from another segment and applies more filters.
- Import Segment: Creates a Direct Select segment when importing contacts via CSV.
- Duplicate Segment: Copies an existing segment's filters and logic.
Lead Source contains “Web” AND Email Clicks ≥ 1 in the last 30 days.
Create a New Segment
This path is best when you want to define a segment from scratch using the full All Contacts list.
- Go to Audience Center > All Contacts.
- Click New Segment in the top-right corner.
- In the segment builder, name your segment: Engaged Web Leads.
- For your first filter row:
- Choose Profile Data as the data type.
- Select Lead Source as the field.
- Select the condition contains, then type Web.
- Click Add a row to add another condition:
- Choose Behavior as the data type.
- Select Email Clicks as the field.
- Set condition to greater than or equal to 1.
- Set timeframe to In the last 30 days.
- Make sure your logic is set to AND.
- Click Save.
Other Ways to Create Segments
Create Subsegment
A subsegment only includes contacts from an existing parent segment. Helpful when you're narrowing down a known audience.
- Hover over a segment and click ⋯ More.
- Choose Create subsegment.
- Add additional filters and click Save.
Import Segment
When importing a list, you can create a Direct Select segment to group just those imported contacts.
- During import, check the box to Create segment.
- Choose a name for the new segment.
Duplicate a Segment
Quickly reuse the logic of any segment by creating a copy. This is helpful when building similar campaigns, testing variations, or reusing complex filters with small changes.
- Hover over the segment you want to copy and click ⋯ More.
- Select Duplicate.
- Enter a new name, choose a folder, and optionally add tags.
- Click Duplicate.
- After the copy is created, click its name to open it.
- In the top-right corner of the segment, click Edit Segment.
- Update any filter criteria, group logic, or settings as needed.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
