Create a New Segment – Act-On Contacts

You can create a new segment to further categorize your contacts on the All Contacts page. There are four ways to get started. Read on to learn about each of these options.

Ways to Create a Segment

New Segment

Create a new segment that will pull from all of your Act-On Contacts.

  1. Go to Contacts > All Contacts.
  2. At the top of the screen, click New Segment.
  3. In Manage Segment, define the segment criteria and click Save.

Create Subsegment

This will make a segment that is limited to contacts that are already contained in the parent segment:

  1. Hover over any existing segment in All Contacts.
  2. Click More   
  3. Select Create subsegment.
  4. Define the segment criteria and click Save.

The subsegment's default location will be in the same folder or subfolder that its parent segment is in.

Create a Segment when you Import Contacts

When you import a CSV or Marketing List to Act-On Contacts, you can create a direct-select segment that includes all contacts at the same time.

Duplicate a Segment

To make a copy of an existing segment:

  1. Hover over any existing segment in All Contacts.
  2. Click More   
  3. Select Duplicate from the drop-down menu.
  4. In Save as, enter a name for your duplicate segment.
  5. Select a Location.
    • All Segments is the default location, but you can also move it into any of your folders
  6. Click  + add tag to add a tag to your duplicate.
  7. Click Duplicate.
  8. Edit your duplicate's segment criteria if needed.
