Using Query Templates for Segmentation

  • Updated

Save your segmentation queries as Query Templates to reuse, creating segments for future campaigns.

Define Your Queries

Learn about defining query criteria & query methods.

Example

Your campaign has been running for 2 months. You'd like to reach out to contacts who engaged earlier in the campaign (more than a month ago) but have not engaged since.

Within the list/segment of contacts for your campaign, define queries based on behavior criteria to create a segment for those who have not either opened a message, visited a Landing Page, or submitted a Form in the last month, but did one of those things 2 months ago:

At the top, the CUSTOM criteria "(1 or 2 or 3) and (4 and 5 and 6)" defines that contacts must have done either 1, 2, or 3, and must also have done all of 4, 5, & 6.
i.e. contacts engaged in any of three ways 2 months ago, and did not engage in any way 1 month ago.

Save as Query Templates

  1. Once you have defined your query criteria, at the upper right, click Query Templates. A sidebar appears on the right.
  2. Enter a name for your Query Template & click Save.

Reuse Query Templates

Now for lists/segments from other campaigns, you can apply this Query Template to create a segment meeting similar criteria:

  1. Start a new segment from a different list/segment as described here.
  2. Enter a Name for your new segment & select the segmentation Method 'Query'.

  3. On the right, click Query Templates & select your Query Template (confirm when prompted):

    • Now the new segment (from a different list/segment) will be created based on the behavior criteria in the Query Template.
