Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in Act-On

  • Updated

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) increases the security of your Act-On account by requiring a one-time verification code during sign-in. This article explains how admins request MFA for their account and how users set it up for the first time.

Quick Reference (Advanced Users) - Click to Expand
  • To enable MFA for your account: Review the admin setup guide, then contact Support or your CSM to turn it on.
  • To set up MFA as a user: Sign in using the MFA Login option, scan the QR code with your authenticator app, and enter the code to finish setup.
  • MFA sign-in page: Bookmark it for daily use.
  • Resetting MFA: Your admin resets it in Settings Users. Then complete setup again.
Try it like this: If MFA is already enabled for your organization, go to the MFA sign-in page, log in with your username and password, scan the QR code using Google Authenticator, and enter the code to complete setup.

Enable MFA for Your Act-On Account

Account administrators can add MFA to strengthen access protection. Before you request MFA, review the setup guide for Act-On admins. Once you confirm your readiness, contact Support or your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to enable MFA for your account.

After MFA is activated, all users complete a one-time setup using an authentication app on their mobile device. The same app is used every time they sign in.

  • Google Authenticator

  • Auth0 Guardian

Your organization may ask you to use a specific app.

What if I use multiple authenticator apps?

Use the same app you used during your initial MFA setup. Codes do not sync across apps.

What if my authentication code is not working?

  • Refresh the code or restart your authentication app.
  • Clear your browser cookies and try again.
  • Ask your Act-On administrator to reset your MFA.

How do I reset my MFA?

If you lose access to your device or need to reinstall your authentication app, follow these steps:

  1. Contact your Act-On administrator and request an MFA reset.
  2. Your admin resets MFA in Settings Users.
  3. Once reset, return to the first-time setup steps and complete MFA on your new device.

If you need to reset your Act-On password:

  1. At the standard Act-On sign-in page, select Forgot Password?
