Scrubbing Opt-Outs, Bounces, and Spam Complaints from a Marketing List

Keep your data & reporting clean by removing email addresses that opt out, bounce, & spam complaints. When a contact opts out, hard bounces, or files a spam complaint from one of the emails sent from your Act-On account, Act-On automatically suppresses it from future mailings. However, it is a best practice to periodically remove these email addresses from your lists to keep your contact data and message reporting clean.

Follow the steps below to remove bounces and opt-outs from a Marketing List:

  1. Navigate to Lists Marketing Lists (or Other Lists > Form Submissions or Webinar Lists).
  2. Click the drop-down arrow beside the relevant list.
  3. Click Maintenance > Remove Bounces & Opt-Outs.
  4. Check the box next to the record types that you want to remove.
  5. Click Submit.
