What is my Sender Reputation?

  • Updated

Your sender score is a single number that sums up how mailbox providers view your sending behavior, and it directly affects whether your emails get delivered. A higher score makes it more likely your messages reach the inbox, while a lower score can drop you below an ISP's trustworthiness threshold — which can mean your emails land in spam, or don't go out at all.

Some factors that determine your sender score:

  • How often your emails are marked as spam by their recipient
  • How many recipients unsubscribe from your emails
  • The volume of emails being sent by your organization
Why this matters: Maintaining a good reputation is critical to keeping your emails deliverable. A poor reputation can be repaired, but it's much easier to prevent in the first place by following best practices — keep your data quality high and your audience engaged to protect your score.

How do I maintain or improve my email reputation?

When sending out messages from the Act-On Message Composer, you can use the Check Spam Score feature to automatically review your email content for anything that may cause an ISP to flag it as spam or junk mail.
