Tracking Form views by your known visitors is an easy way to see who has abandoned a Form vs. who has submitted it. This allows you to determine the Form's conversion rate. To do this, you will need to create a hierarchy of segments, starting with a Form view segment.
The steps to segment for Form views depend on whether it's a New Form or a Classic Form.
New Forms
New Forms are always embedded into another page, so you can segment based on page views for the Landing Page or external web page where the Form is hosted. To track views on a New Form, you can create a list segment using the "visited landing pages" or "visited web pages" behavior.
- Create a segment.
- If using All Contacts, go to Contacts > All Contacts and click on Create Segment.
or
Go to Contacts > All Contacts, hover over any existing segment, and click on More > Create Subsegment. - If using any other lists, go to Contacts > Marketing Lists.
or
Go to Contacts > Other Lists > Form Submissions or Webinar Lists. Then choose a list to segment, click the drop-down arrow to the right of the list name, and click Create a Segment.
- If using All Contacts, go to Contacts > All Contacts and click on Create Segment.
- Name the new segment.
- Change the segment criteria to:
- Behavior in the last # days
- Select the Form criteria that fit your use:
- If your Form is embedded on an Act-On Landing Page, choose "visited landing pages".
- If your Form is directly embedded on your website, choose "visited web pages".
- Choose criteria "all of these" click the plus sign, then select the relevant pages
- Landing Pages: locate the landing page that hosts your Form and click Submit.
- Website: either locate the URL for the page your Form is on or manually enter the URL (eg if no visits have been tracked yet) and click Submit.
- Click Save.
Classic Forms
Classic Forms are published as an independent page and have a direct URL that can be tracked. To track views on a Classic Form, you can create a list segment using the "viewed forms" behavior.
- Behavior in the last # days viewed Forms
- Select "all of these" and click the plus sign.
- Choose the specific Classic Form(s) for your segment and click Submit.
- Click Save.
