The New InSite Is Here

  • Updated

InSite has been rebuilt from the ground up. It's more flexible, more capable, and more tightly integrated with your Act-On account. Here's what's new.

What's Changing

The previous version of InSite offered a single, fixed agent per account backed by one knowledge source, with limited configuration options and no visibility into account-level usage. The new InSite is fully self-service and supports multiple agents, multiple knowledge sources, and deeper Act-On integration.

Multiple Agents and Knowledge Sources

Your account can now support multiple distinct web agents, each with its own branding, configuration, and knowledge. A default agent covers your site globally, and you can target specific agents to individual pages using a simple page-level script. Each agent can draw answers from multiple knowledge sources, built by crawling your website using recursive, sitemap, or discrete URL collection methods.

Agent Configuration

The Agent Composer gives you full control over each agent's appearance, greeting, voice and tone, and response behavior. Up to 20 response rules let you define how the agent responds to specific visitor questions, including delivering a link or an Act-On form directly within the chat.

Draft, Preview, and Publish

Configuration changes are saved as a draft and won't affect your live site until you publish. The interactive preview lets you test both draft and published configurations against your live knowledge sources before anything goes out.

Lead Capture

Act-On forms can be served inside the chat experience through response rules. Submissions flow through standard Act-On processes: contact creation and updates, marketing list enrollment, Audience Center, and automated programs.

Reporting and Visitor Insights

The Agent Report shows how visitors move through the chat experience, from opening the widget to starting and continuing a conversation. When a visitor's Beacon cookie is associated with a known contact, their record is surfaced alongside their conversation history.

Usage Visibility

Account-level limits for conversations, pages, and storage are now visible in the product, so you can see how much you've used and how much you have left.

When

Available now for all Act-On accounts.

Impact to Customers

InSite gives your website a conversational layer that answers visitor questions in real time, surfaces relevant content, and captures leads. No additional deployment is needed beyond the Act-On Beacon already on your site. Customers with multiple web properties or distinct audience segments can run scoped agents tailored to each, rather than relying on a single one-size-fits-all experience.

Actions Required

No additional deployment steps are required if the Act-On Beacon is already active on your site.

  • To get started or add agents to your account, connect with your Account Manager to discuss pricing and provisioning.

On the Horizon

We're continuing to invest in InSite. Coming up next:

  • Segmentation: conversation data will feed into Advanced Segmentation (currently in beta), so you can build audiences based on how visitors engaged with your agent.
  • Contact timeline: InSite conversations will appear directly on a new version of the contact report (in development), giving you a fuller picture of how a contact has engaged with your site.
