- You will need action from your IT staff, web hosting provider, and email provider
- You will also need to contact Act-On support
- You may need to wait for responses during this process, so it is critical to get started as soon as possible
Some of these settings affect your email sending ability, and others enable you to track website visitors.
Email Setup
These steps give Act-On permission to send emails on your behalf.
Why is this important?
Without these settings, your emails are very likely to be sent to spam or rejected altogether.
Email From Setup (SPF and DKIM)
This allows Act-On to send mail "from" your organization. Set up Email From here. To learn more about these topics, see What is SPF? and What is DKIM?
Envelope From Setup
This shows email providers that your Act-On messages are genuine. Set up Envelope From here.
Yahoo Feedback Loop
This is important when sending to Yahoo and AOL emails. Set up the Yahoo Feedback Loop here.
Verifying Email Setup
You can verify that SPF, DKIM, and Envelope From: have been completed by sending a test email to an external Gmail account. In the options menu for this message, select Show Original:
In the headers of the message, you will be able to see if SPF and DKIM passed.
You can also validate your SPF record at http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html.
Website Tracking Setup
These steps will enable you to drive traffic to your website and analyze visitor data.
Why is this important?
Without these settings, web browsers may block your Act-On assets (forms, landing pages, etc.).
Custom Domain and SSL Certificate
This adds custom branding to your Act-On URLs and ensures that traffic is secure (HTTPS). Set up your custom marketing domain here.
Beacon Tracker (for Website Prospector)
This collects useful data on your website traffic that gets displayed in Act-On's Website Prospector. Set up the Beacon Tracker here.
Other Important Settings
