Act-On Anywhere brings the power of Act-On messages to your Microsoft Outlook account. It is a web-based add-in accessed directly from Outlook. Act-On Anywhere for Outlook (2023 version) has been updated to improve the user experience. With our plugin, you can:
- Use pre-built email templates and links to other Act-On assets straight from Outlook.
- Track message opens and clicks for a single recipient as if the message was sent through Act-On. (Message tracking is not available for multiple recipients when using Act-On Anywhere.)

Accessing Act-On Anywhere (2023 version) in Outlook
Act-On Anywhere (2023 version) is available in Windows Outlook desktop, Mac Outlook, and Outlook.com in a Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari browser.
When accessing Act-On Anywhere, you may be prompted in the task pane to sign in using your Act-On details:
In Windows Outlook desktop:
- When viewing a message, click in the Home tab toolbar, and in the menu that appears, select Act-On Anywhere > Show Taskpane (inbox view information below):
- When composing a message in Outlook, click and select Act-On Anywhere > Show Taskpane (compose view information below):
In Mac Outlook:
- When viewing or composing a message, at the right of the top toolbar, click and select Act-On Anywhere: (inbox view and compose view information below):
Tip: Click Customize Toolbar… and add a shortcut in the Mac Outlook toolbar:
In a browser Outlook.com:
- When viewing a message, click in the top-right corner of the message window (not the top toolbar), and in the menu that appears, select Act-On Anywhere (inbox view information below):
- When composing a message, click and in the menu that appears, select Act-On Anywhere (compose view information below):
Using Act-On Anywhere (2023 version)
When accessed, Act-On Anywhere is in a task pane on the right, in the inbox view when viewing emails, or in the compose view when composing an email in Outlook.
Inbox View
- Set Email Activity to track all outbound emails in Act-On. What is set here becomes the default setting when composing emails (see below). Email activity tracking is available in Act-On's sent message reports.
If an email has multiple recipients, Act-On Anywhere tracks the first email address in the To box. If the email has tracking enabled, all opens/clicks will be recorded against that email address (Outlook displays a warning about this). - See your Act-On User Account details and sign out
Compose View
- Preview and insert the following Act-On marketing Assets right into your Outlook email:
Email Templates: Insert the selected Act-On email template HTML into Outlook's message composer.
Add a recipient in the To box before inserting a template. This is because Act-On uses personalization in email templates which allows tracking of the contact’s open and click activities.Images: Access the Act-On image library and logos, and insert the image or logo into your email. Click to preview a larger image, along with the image details.
Forms (Classic Forms only), Landing pages, and Media: Insert a link to the selected asset into your email. You can set the link text, and choose which URL to use if additional ones have been created for the asset:
Search is available at the top right to find the asset you want.
You can control access to email templates and other assets through Sales Enabled Folders in Act-On. (See the 'Control Folder Access for Sales Users' section in this article.)
- Set Email Activity to turn on/off email tracking for this particular email. The default setting for this is set when viewing email (see above). Email activity tracking is available in Act-On's sent message reports.
- See your Act-On User Account details and sign out
Removing Act-On Anywhere (2023 version)
To remove the add-in:
- Access My add-ins in the add-in store in the version of Outlook you use, as explained here.
- Find the Act-On Anywhere add-in, click and select Remove:
